Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has pledged to place the state at the forefront of grassroots mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The Governor gave the assurance when he received the leadership and members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, led by its National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Asuku, at the Government House in Lokoja.
Gov. Ododo said the leadership structure and grassroots reach of the group positioned it to mobilise widespread support for the President, urging members to take their campaign to homes, communities, markets and other public spaces across the state.
He said Kogi would demonstrate appreciation to the president by mobilising citizens to vote in appreciation of the President’s development agenda, adding that the state is determined to establish a grassroots campaign model that other states could emulate.
Governor Ododo cited the Federal Government’s support in areas of infrastructure, security, healthcare and other development initiatives in the state as a good ground for the campaign for the president’s reelection.
The Governor also highlighted his administration’s efforts to engage young people through appointments and opportunities to participate in governance, stressing the importance of redirecting the energy of young people towards productive activities and development of the state.
He urged the group to sustain its engagement with the people and communicate the impact of government policies at the grassroots, expressing confidence that its structure could strengthen public participation in the campaign.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Comrade Sunday Asuku, commended the administration of Governor Ododo for its development efforts, particularly in security, workers’ welfare and debt reduction.
He said the experience of Kogi state under Governor Ododo reflects the impact of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Asuku said the movement was preparing to intensify its mobilisation across Kogi, using a door-to-door approach to reach residents in communities, farms and urban centres.
The state coordinator, David Mark, said the movement considered it important to visit the Governor before commencing its wider grassroots engagement, describing the visit as an opportunity to formalise its relationship with the state leadership.
High point of the visit was the decoration of Governor Ododo as patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Kogi State.
