Aston Villa ended Manchester City’s unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 Premier League win at Villa Park on Saturday, thanks to a Nicolas Jackson scored Brace.
The citizens who had enjoyed a blistering start to the season, were on hand to extend that run against Aston villa, couldn’t find their mojo in Birmingham thanks to a determined and disciplined defensive display from Uni Emery’s men.
Former Chelsea striker, Jackson draw the first blood of the afternoon, after a defensive blunder from Marc Guehi, holding down his marker before finishing calmly into the bottom right corner.
The afternoon was tricky for man city, as they find it difficult to restore parity before halftime, with their defense holding the lively Haaland, Domu and Ndiaye.
Erling Haaland restored parity for man city minutes into the second half, but the energetic Villa’s Forward were at hand to cause more damage to city’s backline, their long dominance finally paid off after winning the ball in the centre of the circle, and Jackson was on hand to add his second of the afternoon.
Further moves and desire by man city to equalise proved barren as they left Birmingham with no point.
The win for villa came a week after Villa’s 1-0 victory at Newcastle and gives Emery’s side momentum going into the next fixtures.
They host Fulham next Saturday and then travel to Manchester United on November 8. For City, the loss ends the unbeaten run and leaves Maresca with questions about his defence ahead of their next outing.
