A five-day free medical outreach organised by the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement for Tinubu/Shettima 2027 has provided healthcare services to 27,529 residents of Benue State, including more than 113 surgical operations across seven medical facilities.
The outreach, facilitated by the National Coordinator of the movement, Architect Sonny S.T. Echono, ran from October 27 to October 31, 2026, across different communities in the state.
The programme covered seven healthcare facilities in Makurdi, Gboko, Katsina-Ala, Vandeikya, Oju, Ugbekpo and the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo.
Beneficiaries received free medical consultations, diagnostic services, medications and treatment for various health conditions, including malaria, respiratory infections and dental problems.
The initiative also provided maternal and child healthcare services, while surgical procedures included operations for hernia, appendicitis, haemorrhoids and cataracts.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Echono said the intervention was designed to bring essential healthcare services closer to grassroots communities, particularly residents who could not easily afford quality medical care.
He expressed satisfaction with the turnout, noting the importance of making healthcare accessible to underserved populations.
The North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement is also working to strengthen grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The outreach formed part of the group’s broader community engagement and humanitarian initiatives.
