The Ebira Vonya Women Association also known as Fancy Women in Politics, has empowered over 250 women with business equipment and cash grants as part of efforts to promote economic self-reliance, grassroots development and women empowerment across Kogi State.
The beneficiaries received sewing machines, grinding machines, freezing coolers, electric fans and cash grants during the association’s Annual Mega Empowerment Programme, held to support small businesses and improve livelihoods among households.
Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the association, Hon. Rukayat Ajoge, said the initiative is in line with the group’s dedication to improving the welfare of women and fostering sustainable economic growth within the Ebira community and Kogi State at large.
She commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for what she described as his inclusive and people-focused leadership, noting that his administration has continued to invest in critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, youth development and women empowerment.
Hon. Ajoge also acknowledged the contributions of the association’s principal sponsor and Auditor-General for Local Governments, Hon. Yakubu Adabenege, describing him as a committed advocate of human capital development whose support has continued to transform lives and strengthen community development across the state.
She urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the items and financial support provided to expand their businesses, attain financial independence and contribute to the socio-economic development of their communities.
While acknowledging support by members, volunteers and coordinators for their contributions to the success of the programme, Hon. Ajoge assured those yet to benefit that additional phases of the empowerment initiative would be provided soon.
Stakeholders at the event declared support for the second-term bid of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and endorsed the senatorial aspiration of former Governor Yahaya Bello and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They also pledged to mobilise support for all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections, urging the electorate to remain united in sustaining the gains of good governance.
