The Kogi State Government will on Saturday inaugurate 530 newly trained personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) as part of efforts to strengthen security across the state’s forests and rural communities.
The Passing Out Parade is scheduled to hold on August 1, 2026, at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is expected to preside over the ceremony.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the State Security Adviser, the newly trained personnel will be deployed to forested areas across the state to enhance security operations and prevent criminal activities.
The statement described the inauguration as another milestone in the state’s efforts to combat insecurity, noting that the recruits underwent intensive training to support ongoing security operations and consolidate existing gains.
Signed by the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), the statement said the deployment is part of the government’s broader strategy to reclaim forests from criminal elements and improve the safety of lives and property across Kogi State.
The government added that members of the public are invited to witness the ceremony, during which more details of the state’s security initiatives are expected to be unveiled.
