GEGU LAUNCHES NATIVE BOY CARE INITIATIVE, PAYS FEES FOR 20 INDIGENT STUDENTS

Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu has launched the Native Boy Care Initiative, a grassroots-driven platform to support vulnerable members of the society across Kogi State.

‎The initiative was officially unveiled in Lokoja with its first major intervention involving the payment of school fees for 20 indigent students of Kogi State Polytechnic.

‎Speaking at the launch, Gegu, described the platform as a demonstration of grassroots commitment to reducing the financial burden on indigent families and ensuring that young people remain in school.

‎He said the initiative was founded on the philosophy of supporting the people at the grassroots, stressing that those who have benefited from the society have a responsibility to give back and create opportunities for others.

‎According to him, the payment of school fees for the 20 students is only the beginning, as the initiative plans to roll out additional empowerment programmes across the state.

‎Gegu disclosed that the future interventions will include grants for Small and Medium Enterprise, agricultural support and vocational training opportunities for youths.

‎He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for providing a leadership that encourages individuals and organisations to contribute to the welfare and development of the people.
