Former Governor of Kogi State and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kogi Central Senatorial District, Yahaya Bello, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the APC will secure a landslide victory in Kogi State in the 2027 general elections.
Bello who was addressing party members in Okene during a homecoming reception organised by the APC in the state described the enduring strength of the APC and its grassroots support base across the state as guarantees for the victory of the president and other candidates of the party in the elections.
The Former Governor also expressed confidence in the continued support of the people for the administration of President Tinubu at the federal level and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in Kogi State.
He said the reception in Kogi State demonstrates the depth of his relationship with the people, stressing that he had no doubt in the continued support of the people for the APC.
“I have never doubted that my people are with me 100 per cent. I have never doubted that my people are supporting APC 100 per cent,” Bello said.
He said the enthusiasm surrounding his return was significant because, in his assessment, it reflects the bond between him and the people.
“It is organic. It is inborn, it is inherent, it is in our DNA, and I sincerely appreciate them,” Bello declared, while expressing appreciation to the people for the reception.
Bello, who is seeking election to the National Assembly as a Senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district, said the support for the APC extends beyond his candidacy, pointing to the political direction of the party under President Tinubu and Governor Ododo.
He said the people of Kogi have continued to identify with the APC-led governments at both federal and state levels, citing infrastructure development and the delivery of democratic dividends as areas through which the party had demonstrated its commitment to the electorate.
The former governor also used the occasion to express confidence in the political strength of the APC ahead of the forthcoming elections, particularly in Kogi Central, while assuring President Tinubu of the state’s continued support.
“I want to assure Mr President that the Kogi State election, and the election of Kogi Central in particular, is as good as done 100 per cent for APC,” he said.
Bello further commended President Tinubu, Governor Ododo and members of the APC at all levels for their support, describing the homecoming as an indication of the party’s grassroots structure and political presence across the state.
Earlier, former Chairman of APC in Kogi State, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, described the large turnout as a demonstration of the people’s attachment to the former governor and his political influence in the state.
“This is the homecoming of a leader that liberated the whole Ebira, and we all turned out to welcome him. It is not an easy thing,” the former APC chairman said.
