The Governing Council of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has commended the Rector, Professor Salihu Avidime, for his leadership and prudent management of the institution’s resources despite financial constraints.

The Chairman of the Council, Barrister Sani Shaibu, gave the commendation during the Council’s 74th regular meeting held at the Polytechnic’s main campus.

Shaibu praised Avidime’s performance within his first few months in office, appreciating the management and staff for their support for his administration.

He stressed the need for continuous improvements in staff welfare to boost morale, productivity and institutional development.

The chairman also reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting reforms aimed at improving the Polytechnic’s academic standards and overall performance.

He also urged Council members to explore additional revenue sources through strategic partnerships with corporate organisations, government agencies and public-spirited individuals.

Earlier, Professor Salihu Avidime outlined his administration’s priorities, including improving operational efficiency, upgrading infrastructure, raising academic standards, increasing the institution’s visibility and enhancing staff and student welfare.

The Rector said the management is identifying areas requiring urgent intervention and implementing practical measures to make the institution more responsive and competitive.

He expressed appreciation to the Council for its guidance and support, urging members to sustain efforts to ensure available funds are directed towards priority areas, including academic standards, accreditation requirements, staff welfare and students’ experience.

Avidime pledged to justify the Council’s confidence through transparent leadership, prudent spending and measurable results.
