Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and community-driven development during a stakeholder engagement forum held in Adavi Local Government Area.
The forum, hosted at the Adavi Local Government Secretariat in Ogaminana, brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, youth, and women groups in a vibrant dialogue aimed at fostering unity and sustainable progress.
Prior to the interactive session, Governor Ododo embarked on an inspection tour of several ongoing road construction projects within the area. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to delivering quality infrastructure projects across the state.
The governor stressed the importance of timely project execution, noting that such developments were crucial to connecting communities and unlocking economic opportunities.
One of the key highlights of the Governor’s address was his emphasis on promoting local content in all development initiatives. Ododo stated that his government is intentionally engaging local artisans, suppliers, and laborers to execute projects.
This, he explained, is a strategic move not only to boost the local economy but also to instill a sense of ownership and trust among the people. “When our own people are part of the building process, development becomes more meaningful and sustainable,” he said.
The governor also lauded the residents of Adavi for their unity and peaceful coexistence, which he described as essential for attracting and sustaining government investments. He appealed to them to maintain the peaceful environment, stressing that progress can only thrive in a stable and secure atmosphere.
He pledged continued collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that the voice of every community is heard and reflected in state policies.
In his welcome remarks, the Executive Chairman of Adavi Local Government Area, Hon. Bashir Rasheed Okatengwu, commended Governor Ododo for his responsive leadership. He praised the administration for prioritizing critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, and security in Adavi.
According to him, the appointment of individuals from the area into strategic political positions is a testament to the Governor’s inclusive and people-focused leadership style.
The forum concluded with a symbolic gesture as community leaders presented financial donations to support ongoing development projects within the local government area. The move was widely applauded as a sign of collective responsibility and partnership between government and the people.
