Ododo Credits Bello’s Leadership Template, Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Governance

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has acknowledged the instrumental role of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in shaping the political and developmental landscape of the state.

During a stakeholders’ engagement held at Idozumi, Bariki Ward in Okene Local Government Area, Governor Ododo paid glowing tribute to Bello, describing him as a “fantastic father” and a “visionary mentor” whose leadership ideals continue to influence governance in the state.

Addressing a gathering of traditional rulers, political figures, youth, and women groups, the Governor emphasized his loyalty to the foundational principles laid by the former Governor.

He assured the people that his administration is firmly rooted in the ideology of inclusive leadership, equity, and grassroots empowerment championed by Yahaya Bello. “We are not just beneficiaries of his legacy; we are committed custodians of his vision for a better Kogi,” Ododo declared.

Governor Ododo highlighted some of the core values he inherited from his predecessor, particularly the prioritization of governance that empowers individuals regardless of their background.

He praised Bello’s efforts in mentoring individuals from modest beginnings into influential positions, stating that many of these leaders are now active contributors to development across the state.

The Governor also used the occasion to commend the people of Bariki Ward for their solid support, peaceful coexistence, and communal unity. He urged community leaders and political stakeholders to strengthen their bonds, reconcile differences, and focus on shared goals for the continued growth of the ward and the state at large. According to him, peace and collaboration are vital ingredients for sustainable development.

In a show of solidarity, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Grassroots Mobilization, Hon. Halidu Abdullahi, who spoke on behalf of political appointees from the area, lauded Governor Ododo for his inclusive governance style.

He assured that Bariki Ward remains fully aligned with the Governor’s development agenda, with stakeholders from all segments and polling units ready to support initiatives aimed at transforming lives.
