Kogi SGS Marks Former Governor Bello’s 50th Birthday with Charity Outreach

The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, commemorated the 50th birthday of former Governor Yahaya Bello with a charity outreach to orphanage homes in Lokoja.

The outreach, held on Wednesday in the state capital, saw Dr. Ayoade lead her support group, Team Mama Cabinet, on visits to four orphanages, where they donated essential supplies and spent time with the children and caregivers.

Speaking to journalists during the visit, Dr. Ayoade extended warm birthday wishes to the former governor, describing him as a visionary and focused leader whose legacy of compassion and inclusivity continues to shape governance in Kogi State.

“In line with His Excellency’s request for a quiet and impactful celebration, we chose to honour his legacy by reaching out to orphans and widows. This reflects the type of leadership he represents one grounded in compassion, service, and purpose,” she stated.

Dr. Ayoade emphasized that the charitable outreach aligns with the values instilled by former Governor Bello during his tenure, adding that the current administration, under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, is building on that foundation through continuity and good governance.

As part of the extended birthday celebration, she announced that 100 widows across the state would be empowered in the coming week in further tribute to the former governor’s milestone.

Accompanying the SSG on the outreach were Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Ismail Isah; Director General of the State ICT Development Agency, Bashir Tenuche; and former Provost of the Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa, Victoria Jagboro.

They all described former Governor Bello as a transformational leader whose style of governance continues to inspire excellence, patriotism, and a deep commitment to human development.

Caregivers at the orphanages expressed heartfelt appreciation for the visit and prayed for the former governor’s continued strength, good health, and enduring legacy.

The orphanages visited during the outreach included Rehoboth Children’s Home, MoMs Orphanage, Margaret Ohiani Orphanage Home, and Stagi Cornerstone Orphanage.
