Oworo Ward Councillor Empowers 50 Farmers with Farm Inputs

In a remarkable demonstration of grassroots leadership, the Councillor representing Oworo Ward in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Princess Victoria Solomon Temitope, has empowered no fewer than 50 farmers with essential agricultural inputs.

The empowerment programme, which took place in Oworo community, featured the distribution of insecticides, fertilizers, and other farm inputs aimed at boosting food production and encouraging local farmers in the current farming season.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Temitope expressed gratitude to the people of Oworo ward for their unwavering support, particularly during the last election.

She described the gesture as a “token of appreciation” and a step towards fulfilling her promise of inclusive representation and development.

“I appreciate my people for everything they’ve done for me. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” she said.

She noted that the empowerment is to show love and support in return and to encourage farmers she described as the backbone of the economy.

The event drew praise from community stakeholders, including local Government Special Assistant to the Governor, Ibrahim Adoga, who commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for ensuring the smooth release of allocations to the the local government authorities in the state.

He noted that the Councillor’s effort was a direct result of the transparent governance style now being felt across state.

“Since 1999, we’ve never witnessed this kind of gesture in Oworo Ward. It shows that with the right leadership and accountability, the dividends of democracy can reach the people directly”, he said.

He advised beneficiaries to use the inputs wisely, avoid selling them, stressing their importance for a fruitful farming season in the community.
