Kogi Government Launches Governance Delivery Unit

The Kogi State Government has inaugurated the Governance Delivery Unit, a strategic initiative aimed at fostering accountability, transparency, and effective service delivery. The launch, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Lokoja, was organized in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers and attended by key stakeholders.

Representing Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade Arike, emphasized the administration’s commitment to progressive growth and development. She urged political appointees to view their positions as avenues to serve the people diligently, announcing an annual performance review mechanism for ministries, departments, and agencies to evaluate their contributions toward governance objectives.

The Head of Service, Mr. Elijah Evenemi, commended Governor Ododo for establishing the Governance Delivery Unit, describing it as a transformative step toward delivering impactful governance. He underscored the initiative’s potential to improve citizens’ lives and strengthen confidence in government policies and programs.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris, highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in achieving the state’s 32-year development plan. He explained that the plan is anchored on three pillars: building resilience, fostering prosperity, and providing strategic direction for Kogi’s growth.

The Chief Economic Adviser to the State Government, Hon. Indah Aliu Salami, stressed the Unit’s role in ensuring the seamless implementation of government policies and programs. He called on stakeholders to remain steadfast in their commitment to effective governance, noting that delivering meaningful change requires continuous effort and collaboration.
