Kogi SGS Marks 60th Birthday with Orphanage, Support Initiative

The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, has launched the Folashade Ayoade Initiative for Widows and Orphans, an orphanage home dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and empowering widows across the state.

The launch, which formed part of activities marking her 60th birthday celebration, was held in Lokoja and attracted dignitaries from within and outside the state.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by the Head of Civil Service, Dr. Elijah Evinemi, commended the SGS for what he described as a life-transforming project that will leave a lasting impact on society.

He praised her resilience, selflessness, and commitment to governance, noting that dedicating her milestone celebration to widows and orphans was a mark of true leadership.

In her remarks, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade expressed gratitude to God for the grace of six decades and for the privilege to serve humanity.
She said her desire is to be a bridge that gives other children an abundant life, adding that the orphanage is a call to serve God and humanity while trusting God to take care of her as she dedicates herself to others.

She noted that the orphanage is expected to provide shelter, care, and empowerment opportunities for widows and orphans, aligning with efforts to strengthen social support systems in the state.

The Secretary to the Government of Ogun State, Talabi Tokunbo who represented the Forum of Secretaries to State Governments in Nigeria, also applauded her exemplary service to humanity, describing the Kogi SGS as a shining example of resilience, humility, and devotion to public service whose legacy transcends borders.

The celebration also featured the launch of her new book, The Girl, Bami Tale, unveiled by Dr Elijah Evinemi on behalf of the governor with support by other dignitaries present.

The book chronicles her personal journey and seeks to inspire young girls to rise above challenges and pursue their dreams.

Other dignitaries, including the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, religious leaders, and traditional rulers, praised Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade for her humanitarian contributions, describing her as a pride to womanhood.
