Gegu Bags APC Humanitarian Award in Kogi

The Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has honoured the Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, with an Outstanding Humanitarian Award of Excellence.

The Kogi APC Youth Wing says the award is in recognition of his contributions to party development, youth empowerment, and humanitarian services.

Speaking at the award ceremony, which took place at the party’s Secretariat in Lokoja Kogi State APC Youth Leader, Hon. Mohammed Mohammed, appreciates the sacrifices of party leaders whose efforts laid the foundation for the progress of the APC in the state.

He commended former Governor Yahaya Bello for his commitment to the growth of the party and praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for being the people-oriented agenda of his administration.

The State APC Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, represented by the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Salihu Suleiman, described Engr. Gegu as a benefactor and unifying figure whose contributions extend beyond Kogi Local Government to the entire state.

He acknowledged Gegu’s sense of accountability, transparency, and loyalty as qualities that have earned him wide recognition.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Monday Ayebe, lauded Engr. Gegu as a dedicated, youth-focused leader who remains accessible, sincere, and humble, regardless of tribal or social divides.

In his remarks, Engr. Gegu expressed gratitude to the APC Youth Wing for the recognition, pledging to intensify his commitment to service.

“I am humbled by this honour. This award is dedicated to the youths of Kogi State, and it is a call to do more for the helpless, the fatherless, and the vulnerable,” he said.

He further commended former Governor Yahaya Bello for laying the foundation for progress in the state and urged continued support for Governor Usman Ododo, whom he described as a sincere servant of the people.

Gegu applauded the governor’s strides in security, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment, healthcare, agriculture, and solid minerals development.

He called on the people of Kogi State to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and united, stressing that the recognition would spur him to keep serving humanity with humility and dedication.
