The Kogi State Government has restated commitment to expand the scale of investment in the agricultural sector by 2025.
The Managing Director, Kogi State Agricultural Development Project, Dr. Bello Ogirima gave the assurance while featuring on a LugardTV interview programme, Talk Time where he noted that the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is committed to ensuring that farmers in the state receive the resources required to support the government’s determination to scale up agricultural production and guarantee food security and sufficiency for the people of the state.
According to him, the state has seen a surge of interventions in the agriculture and food security value chain under Governor Ododo which he noted are designed to improve the quality and quantity of production.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration with different stakeholders in the state and beyond to enhance agricultural practices and guarantee greater productivity.
He maintained that Governor Ododo has been a game changer in the agricultural sector because he came in prepared as a farmer who understands the dynamics of the sector thereby ensuring that farmers in the state have access to new technologies that have led to improvement in outputs.
He further assured that the Kogi State government will continue to expand the scale of investment in agricultural sector throughout its value chain given the vast arable land, skilled workforce and the governor’s political will to continue to propel the state’s agricultural development agenda in the new year.
He urged more farmers in the state to take advantage of policy interventions by the state government to improve the agricultural sector.
