Kogi Government Resolves Ajepe Ogbani Sepa Chieftaincy Dispute

The Kogi State Government has intervened in the ongoing dispute over the Ajepe Ogbani Sepa Chieftaincy Stool in Osuku, Kogi Local Government Area, urging all parties involved to seek peaceful resolution.

A meeting of community stakeholders presided over by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Ozigi Deedat in Lokoja saw the participation of Barr. Mohammed Tanko Musa, the Makama Dogo of Osuku, and His Royal Highness Alhassan Abdulmumuni, the Ohinoyi of Osuku, who each presented their positions regarding the chieftaincy dispute.

In his remarks, Barr. Deedat called on both parties to prioritize peace and harmony, stressing the importance of maintaining unity within the traditional institution.

He emphasized that chieftaincy matters should be approached with dignity and respect, urging that titles should be given and accepted with honor to avoid unnecessary discord.

Responding to the call for peace, both the Makama Dogo and the Ohinoyi of Osuku expressed appreciation for the leadership and efforts of the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

They assured the government of their commitment to resolving the dispute amicably and promised to live in harmony.

Stakeholders including Alhaji Hassan Ibrahim, the Ozoutogbani of Igu; Justice Danladi Yakubu of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Lokoja; and representatives of the Ohimege Igu of Kotonkarfi, His Royal Majesty Seidu Akawu.

They expressed deep appreciation for the approach taken by the state government in addressing the chieftaincy issue, which has now been effectively resolved.
