Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has extolled the virtues of the late Alhaji Mohammed Asiru Ijagbemi, father of the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Asiwaju Asiru Idris, who passed away at the age of 95..
Speaking at the 8th Day Fidau prayer in Isanlu, described Pa Asiru as a devout Muslim, respected elder, man of integrity who lived a life of humility, peace, and service.

He commended the values instilled by the late patriarch in his children, especially Hon. Asiwaju Idris, whose integrity and service to Kogi State he attributed to the strong moral foundation laid by his father.
Governor Ododo also called on mourners to emulate Pa Asiru’s virtues of honesty, compassion, and dedication to community development urged the Asiru family to remain united and preserve the harmony he championed.
“We are not here to mourn our father but to celebrate his life of humility. We pray Allah (SWT) grants him Aljannah Firdaus and comforts his family,” he said.

The Governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace and security, cautioning traditional rulers against indiscriminate land sales to strangers and called on them to remain vigilant in their domains.
He further cautioned youths against aiding criminals, stressing that even indirect support for criminals endangers communities.
Responding, Hon. Asiwaju Idris expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo and his delegation for standing with his family during their time of grief.
