Sesko to Miss Slovenia’s World Cup Qualifiers as United Downplay Injury Fears

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko will miss Slovenia’s crucial World Cup qualifying matches after sustaining a knee injury during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Sesko lasted only 30 minutes before limping off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following a challenge by Micky van de Ven. The £73.7 million forward was later seen leaving the ground without crutches but appeared to be in discomfort.

Speaking after the match, United head coach Ruben Amorim described the situation as uncertain, noting that “because it was a knee issue, you never know.”

He added that Sesko would undergo further assessment factor that could influence potential January transfer decisions.

The early injury sparked concerns over a lengthy absence, particularly with United set to lose Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo, and Noussair Mazraoui to the Africa Cup of Nations next month.

However, club officials have sought to ease fears, suggesting that the 22-year-old’s injury is not believed to be a major setback. Final confirmation will depend on test results at United’s Carrington training ground.

Sesko will sit out Slovenia’s decisive qualifiers against Kosovo and Sweden, fixtures crucial to their hopes of securing a World Cup play-off spot.

Meanwhile, defender Lisandro Martinez has been cleared to join Argentina’s training camp at their European base ahead of a friendly with Angola.

The 27-year-old, who has been out since February following major knee surgery, will not play in the match but continues to build fitness with United’s medical supervision.
