Residents Commend Ododo’s Rural Development Efforts in Kogi Central

Residents of Etahi, Oro, Ebogogo, and Esomi in Kogi Central Senatorial districts have applauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the ongoing wave of rural development projects which they say is transforming lives in their communities.

The projects, which include road construction, erosion control, security infrastructure, and upgrade of healthcare facilities, have drawn widespread commendation from people in the communities.

A visit by Lugard TV, a media platform under the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Hon. Ismaila Isah revealed that the communities are witnessing new lease of life following the intervention of the state government.

In Etahi Community, residents praised the ongoing road and erosion control projects.
Mr. Alabi Idris, a resident, described the intervention as long-awaited,” noting that the new drainage systems have already eliminated the menace of seasonal flooding.

“For years, we suffered from poor roads and erosion that destroyed our homes. At least now, there’s real progress,” he said, commending Governor Ododo for prioritizing rural development.

In Oro Community, a recent security infrastructure project has brought relief to residents who have faced growing security challenges in the past.

Nasiru Shehu, a resident of the area called the initiative “a lifeline”, saying it has restored confidence and safety within the community.

In Ebogogo Community, the commissioning of a new Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) has been warmly received by both health workers and residents.

Hassan Salami, the Officer in Charge of the facility, expressed appreciation for the improved working conditions and facilities.

“We thank God for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s efforts and those of his partners in upgrading healthcare services across the state,” he said.

Salami, however, appealed for additional healthcare personnel to ensure the centre operates efficiently.

A nursing mother, Emmanuel Grace, also praised the initiative, noting that the new PHC has made healthcare more accessible and reduced maternal and infant mortality rates.

Similarly, in Esomi, Osochiokodo, and Ohiana communities popularly known as Checkpoint, ongoing road construction projects have been met with commendation.

One of the community heads, Salihu Ilyasu, highlighted the project’s economic importance, stressing that the road projects will improve transportation of farm produce to the market.

“Once completed, this road will make it easier and faster to transport our farm produce to the markets,” he said.

Speaking on the broader scope of the initiatives, Hon. Ismaila Isah, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, stated that the projects form part of a comprehensive development plan aimed at enhancing infrastructure and living standards across Kogi State.

He added that similar interventions are ongoing in several other communities as part of Governor Ododo’s vision for inclusive, grassroots-oriented development.
