Tinubu Says Reforms Rewriting Nigeria’s Economic Story

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said his administration is focused on rewriting Nigeria’s long history of economic underperformance.

Tinubu stated this on Monday in Abuja while declaring open the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit.

The President, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, said his government embarked on difficult but necessary reforms from day one because there is no shortcut to sustainable economic growth.

According to him, the reforms were aimed at dismantling structural barriers that have prevented the country’s abundant human and natural resources from translating into prosperity for its citizens.

He noted that the ultimate goal of the reforms is to improve the lives of Nigerians, particularly young job seekers, farmers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs and innovators.

The President assured that his administration remains committed to working with the private sector to deliver jobs, boost productivity and ensure shared prosperity.

The Nigerian Economic Summit, organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, is an annual platform that brings together leaders from government, business and civil society to chart a path for the nation’s economic development.
