Ten-Man Everton Humiliate Man United at Old Trafford in Fiery 1–0 Shocker

Everton stunned Manchester United with a disciplined and defiant performance at Old Trafford on Monday night, claiming a rare 1–0 victory despite playing nearly the entire match with 10 men.

The win ended their 12-year wait for a league triumph at the iconic ground and came amid extraordinary drama that threatened to derail their evening before it even began.

The match took a shocking turn in the 13th minute when Idrissa Gueye was sent off after VAR confirmed he struck his own teammate, Michael Keane, during a heated exchange.

The incident, deemed violent conduct, made Gueye the first Premier League player since 2008 to be dismissed for clashing with a teammate. The setback followed an earlier blow, with captain Seamus Coleman forced off through injury after just ten minutes.

Despite the chaos, Everton showed remarkable composure. Rather than retreating, they grew into the game and were rewarded with a moment of brilliance from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the 29th minute.

The midfielder surged through United’s midfield, evaded challenges from Bruno Fernandes and Leny Yoro, and curled a superb effort into the top corner to silence Old Trafford.

Manchester United, who came into the contest unbeaten in five matches, dominated possession but lacked the precision and urgency needed to trouble Everton’s organised back line.

Their best openings were denied by Jordan Pickford, who produced a string of sharp saves including a late stop from Joshua Zirkzee’s powerful header to preserve Everton’s lead.

United manager Ruben Amorim reshuffled his side repeatedly in the second half, bringing on Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, and Diogo Dalot in search of creativity. But despite their territorial control, United looked flat in the final third, unable to convert pressure into meaningful opportunities.

Defender Matthijs de Ligt later described the performance as “a step back,” lamenting the team’s lack of patience and intensity.

For Everton, the night ended in jubilation. Dewsbury-Hall hailed the win as a “rollercoaster,” praising his teammates’ resilience and revealing that Gueye apologised after the match.
