Kogi Govt. Debunks Rumoured Kidnap at Kiri High School

The Kogi State Government has dismissed as false the social media reports alleging that bandits invaded Kiri High School and kidnapped students on Wednesday morning.

The Security Adviser to the State Government, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd.), debunked the claim in a statement on Wednesday, faulting the viral Facebook post that alleged armed bandits stormed the school in Aiyetoro Kiri, Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, and abducted students.

The post further claimed that members of the Kiri Vigilante Group confronted the attackers and rescued all the supposedly kidnapped students, with reports suggesting that the operation resulted in the death of one vigilante member and a resident identified as a Hausa man.

However, Commander Omodara described the entire account as fabricated. He. noted that the government is already tracking those behind the spread of the false information.

He expressed concern that individuals would intentionally circulate stories capable of heightening tension and causing panic, stressing that such persons are considered collaborators of criminal elements.

Commander Omodara urged residents to disregard the report, assuring that security agencies across the state remain vigilant and proactive in preventing any threat to peace and safety.
