Gov. Adeleke Resigns from PDP Amid Party Crisis

‎The internal dispute unsettling the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) deepened on Monday as indications emerged that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has resigned his membership of the party.

‎Earlier on Monday, sources disclosed that the PDP would no longer hold its scheduled primary election on Tuesday due to ongoing factional disputes within the party. They added that Governor Adeleke had withdrawn his interest in seeking the party’s nomination as a result of the crisis.

‎However, in a conflicting development, a letter from the PDP National Secretariat surfaced, insisting that the primary election would proceed as planned on Tuesday at the Atlantic Multipurpose Hall in the state capital.

‎The situation took a new turn later in the evening when a letter dated November 4, 2025 written and signed by Governor Adeleke became public, confirming his resignation from the PDP.

‎The letter, addressed to the Chairman of Sagba Ward 2 in Ede, attributed his decision to the deepening crisis within the national leadership of the party.

‎The letter, titled “Resignation of My Membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)”, read:

‎“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect.

‎“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (representing Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party.”
