The First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has expressed profound grief following the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of several citizens returning from the World Disability Day event in Lokoja.
The heartbreaking incident has thrown the state into mourning and sparked widespread condolences.
In a message released by her media office, the First Lady described the tragedy as a deeply painful moment, noting that many of the victims were individuals she had interacted with earlier at the commemoration.
She said the loss feels personal, as the deceased shared values, warmth, and a strong sense of community.
Hajia Sefinat Ododo said her thoughts are with the affected families, emphasising that no words are sufficient to ease the sorrow that comes with sudden and unexpected loss.
She prayed for God’s comfort to envelop the grieving households and grant them the strength to endure their pain.
While reacting to reports of the fatalities, she expressed shock at the scale of the tragedy, stressing that every life lost is a significant blow to Kogi State. She also extended heartfelt prayers to those who sustained injuries, wishing them quick and complete recovery.
“With a mother’s heart, I stand with every family touched by this tragedy. Our departed loved ones will be remembered for the meaningful lives they lived,” she said, offering prayers for Allah’s mercy and peace upon the deceased.
The First Lady encouraged the bereaved families to find solace in faith, assuring them that the entire state stands united behind them in this moment of grief.
She prayed that Almighty Allah grant the departed Aljannah Firdaus and strengthen their families during this painful period.
