FG Secures Release Of 100 Catholic School Children

The Federal Government is said to have secured the release of 100 Catholic School Children abducted from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State.

This development comes two weeks after bandits attacked the school, abducting 315 people, comprising 303 students and 12 teachers, around 50 managed to escape shortly afterwards and leaving 265 held captive until Sunday’s reported development.

With the release of the 100 students, 153 students and 12 teachers are still in custody of the bandits.

Although federal authorities are yet to issue an official statement as to how the students were secured as of the time of publication.

However, sources confirmed that the rescued pupils are currently receiving medical evaluation and will be reunited with their families in Niger after debriefing.

Despite widespread reports of the rescue, the Niger State government is yet to confirm the developments. The Christian Association of Nigeria chairman and the school authorities have also not verified the information.
