The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State Chapter, has held an Entrepreneurship Development Training centered on financial literacy and entrepreneurship for youths in the state.
The training, held under the Office of the Treasurer of NYCN, was chaired by the Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Monday Anyebe who commended the initiative for its relevance in addressing youth unemployment. He emphasised that beyond academic certificates, young people must be equipped with the right skills and mindset to thrive in today’s economy.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Student Matters, Oladele Nihi,applauded the initiative and commended the NYCN in Kogi for its commitment to youth empowerment, calling for sustained support for young entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the event, the President of NYCN Kogi State Chapter, Comr. Abdulrahman Enesi, noted that training goes beyond starting a business and called on Kogi youths to develop financial literacy and sound management culture, stressing that training remains fundamental to entrepreneurial success. He commended Govenor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his continued support towards the growth and development of youths in the state.
Speakers at the event highlighted the rising rate of unemployment among educated youths and stressed the need for a skills hub in Kogi State to provide hands-on training and promote financial independence.
Participants were urged to track their expenses, understand the value of money as a tool, and align their businesses with a clear mission supported by the right mindset and technical know-how.
The event witnessed the presentation of an award of recognition to the commissioner for youths and sports development Hon. Monday Anyebe for his selfless service and commitment to youth development and mentorship in the state.
