The leadership of the two Chambers of the National Assembly of Nigeria has postponed the resumption of plenary to allow committees conclude work on the 2026 budget defence.

Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, Ibrahim Sidi, said the adjustment became necessary as budget defence sessions by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) remain substantially incomplete.

He explained that plenary, initially scheduled to resume on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, will now reconvene on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

The leadership of both chambers urged lawmakers to use the extended period to further scrutinise budget proposals and strengthen deliberations.

It also expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the postponement.
