Kogi Govt Inaugurates Laboratory Technical Working Group

The Kogi State Government has officially inaugurated the State Laboratory Technical Working Group, aimed at strengthening medical laboratory services across the State.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Momoh Steven, at the inauguration ceremony in Lokoja, emphasised the importance of the initiative, urging members of the committee to deploy their professional expertise to improve the quality of laboratory services in the state.

The Commissioner stressed the need for strong collaboration among stakeholders to ensure effective data management accurate diagnosis and the implementation of a laboratory quality management system in line with ISO 15189:2022.

He assured the working group of the government’s full support in achieving its mandate of strengthening laboratory services.

A representative of the Federal Ministry of Health, Mr. Francis Ibeke, commended the establishment of the working group, describing it as a positive step towards improving healthcare delivery in the State.

Similarly, Chairman of the technical working group, Mr. Aaron Ayodele, acknowledged the responsibility ahead, expressing confidence that the team of health professionals, would fulfill its mandate.

Earlier, Vice Chairman of the Technical Working Group and State Chairman of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), Comrade Obajemu Samuel, expressed gratitude to the government for taking the initiative he described would help curb quackery and promote evidence-based medical laboratory services.

Other members of the Kogi State Laboratory Technical Working Group (LTWG) include Mr. Oloke, Dr. Muazu E.D., Pharm Tukura, Mr. Akubo Andrew, Dr. Cyril Agu, and Dr. Ake Oluw.
