Gov. Ododo Hands Over Airport Project to Contractors

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has handed over the construction of the Zariagi International Airport to contractors, marking a significant step in the state’s infrastructure development agenda.

The project was awarded to leading construction firms, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and Gamji Construction Company, with a mandate to deliver a world-class aviation facility in line with global standards.

Represented at the ceremony by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Victor Atuluku, the Governor described the initiative as a people-centered and economically transformative project poised to position Kogi State as a hub for investment, trade, and industrial growth.

The Governor noted that the airport is a strategic infrastructure designed to unlock the state’s vast economic potential.

He emphasized that upon completion, the facility would attract both local and international investments, generate employment across various sectors, and significantly enhance the socio-economic profile of the state.

Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the timely completion of the project, pledging to deploy the necessary human and material resources to meet established timelines.

He stressed that the airport project goes beyond aviation, as it would serve as a critical driver of economic diversification and long-term development.

According to the Governor, the establishment of a state-owned airport will attract multinational corporations, high-net-worth investors, and global business interests, while also creating opportunities for artisans and small-scale enterprises within the state.

He further noted that the project would connect Kogi State to a network of thriving economic centers, thereby boosting trade and commerce.

Governor Ododo charged the contractors to work diligently and maintain high standards of quality, professionalism, and strict adherence to project specifications to ensure the project is completed on schedule.

He also called on the host community and residents of the state to cooperate fully and support the smooth and peaceful execution of the project.

While reassuring investors of adequate security, the Governor reiterated the commitment of administration to the protection lives and property, describing a secure environment as essential for sustainable growth and development.
