Ododo Presents Framework for Kogi APC Primaries,Rules out Imposition of Candidates

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has assured stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that no candidates will be imposed on any community in Kogi State, emphasizing, however, that the primary elections will be guided to ensure fairness and party cohesion.

The governor made this known during a meeting with APC aspirants from Kogi Central Senatorial District of the state, where he reaffirmed commitment to inclusive leadership and internal democracy.

Ododo stressed that while the government would not interfere by imposing candidates, it would play a supervisory role to maintain order, credibility, and unity in the political process.

According to him, such an approach is necessary to safeguard the integrity of the system and promote collective ownership of outcomes.

He noted that the meeting is part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening harmony and ensure a smooth and credible primary election process ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support and leadership, noting that the support of the federal government has strengthened governance and political stability in Kogi State.

The governor further urged all aspirants to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, stating that whoever emerges as the candidate should receive the full support of others.

He emphasized that unity among political actors remains critical to advancing development goals and sustaining peace across the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Aspirants, Sanni Muhammed an aspirant for Adavi Constituency in the State House of Assembly commended the governor for his transparent and consultative approach.

Muhammed pledged the commitment of all aspirants to abide by the outcome of the process, adding that they would work together to support whoever emerges as the consensus candidate in the interest of unity and development of the state.
