The Nigeria Association of Agricultural Product Dealers (NAAPD) has commended the Kogi State Government for
improving security and welfare, while seeking support to enhance Its operation in the state.
The Executive Body of NAAPD made this known during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, at his official residence in Lokoja.
Speaking on behalf of the association, the State Coordinator, Omata Sunday, lauded Governor Ododo’s administration for its developmental strides, particularly in security and governance.
He said the association is ready to partner with the state government to address issues of multiple taxation in the agricultural produce sector.
According to him, NAAPD is mandated to ensure that multiple taxations are either abolished or reduced to the barest minimum, while also supporting revenue generation across the agricultural produce sector.
Sunday expressed confidence in the association’s capacity to effectively handle this responsibility in Kogi State if given the opportunity.
He added that the association can help curb revenue leakages and boost internally generated revenue in the State.
While revealing some challenges, the group appealed for support in areas such as office accomodation, operational vehicles and security backup to improve efficiency.
Responding, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu commended the association for its structured approach and commitment to sanitising the agricultural produce sector.
He noted that the objectives of NAAPD align with policies of the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, especially in the areas of revenue optimisation, reduction of multiple taxation, and strengthening of agricultural productivity.
Salifu stressed that the administration of Governor Ododo remains committed to creating an enabling environment for legitimate business activities to thrive, while also blocking leakages that undermine government revenue.
He assured the delegation that their request for partnership would be carefully reviewed in line with existing laws and policies guiding revenue generation in the state, adding that the concerns of the association would be conveyed to the governor for necessary consideration and possible collaboration.
