UNIPORT Appoints Prof. Princewill Chike as New Vice-Chancellor

The Governing Council of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has approved the appointment of Prof. Princewill R. Chike as the institution’s 10th Vice-Chancellor.

According to a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Sam Kpenu, the appointment followed a successful selection process conducted by the 17th Governing Council.

The university said the process complied with all relevant laws and regulations governing the appointment of Vice-Chancellors in Nigerian universities.

UNIPORT’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, congratulated Prof. Chike on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the university’s continued growth and development.

Prof. Chike is expected to officially assume office as the 10th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt on July 13, 2026.
