Tinubu Celebrates Pastor Kumuyi at 85

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, on his 85th birthday.

In a statement signed on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Kumuyi as a remarkable servant of God whose unwavering faith and dedication have shaped one of Nigeria’s most influential Christian ministries for over five decades.

Tinubu commended Kumuyi’s impact on believers across Nigeria and the world, noting that his voice, writings and ministry had reached far beyond the church.

“As the convener of Global Crusade, your voice has reached beyond the church walls and national borders, bringing hope and encouragement to millions across the world,” he said.

The President noted that the Pastor’s writings have illuminated minds, inspired hearts, and provided timeless guidance to those seeking truth and purpose.

He also said Kumuyi’s ministry and influence have transformed lives, restored families, inspired leaders, and strengthened the faith of generations of believers.

The President prayed for Kumuyi’s continued health and vitality, saying, “On this special day, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant you strength, divine health, peace, and abundant grace.”

Kumuyi, born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State, founded the Deeper Life Bible Church in 1973 as a campus fellowship at the University of Lagos, where he was a mathematics lecturer.

The ministry has since grown into one of the largest Pentecostal denominations in Africa, with congregations in over 150 countries.

Kumuyi has remained one of the most respected voices in African Christianity known for his strict doctrinal standards, evangelistic fervour and personal discipline.
