The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has conducted its 12th Orientation Programme for newly admitted 100-level students, with the university management urging fresh undergraduates to uphold discipline, integrity, and academic excellence throughout their studies.
The programme, held at the University’s school , Felele Campus, was organized to familiarize students with the university’s culture, regulations, and academic expectations.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Ibileye, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor S. D. Musa, congratulated the students on their admission and encouraged them to remain focused on their academic goals.
He warned against examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, and other forms of misconduct, stressing that discipline and hard work are essential for success.
Also speaking, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Gbenga Omofa, urged the students to maintain good character, respect university rules, and contribute positively to the institution’s reputation.
Students were taken through key areas including course registration, academic regulations, library services, ICT resources, health services, security awareness, and student welfare. They were also sensitized on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, and examination malpractice.
The orientation featured an interactive session where students engaged university officials and sought clarification on academic and campus life issues.
University management said the programme was designed to help fresh students adapt smoothly to campus life and build a solid foundation for a successful academic journey.
