Gov. ODODO has created an enabling environment for Vigilante service – Rtd Navy Commander Abdulrahman Adinoyi

Kogi State Comptroller General of the Vigilante Service, KVS, Retired Commander Abdulrahman Mariam Adinoyi says Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has created the enabling environment for the smooth operation of the state vigilance service.

Retired Commander Adinoyi made the remark in his office while speaking to newsmen on the performance of the government in the security sub sector.

He noted that so far, the present administration in the state has given adequate attention to security issues, considering the state as a gate way to many other states.

According to him, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has commenced the payment of minimum wage to Vigilante officers and men, explaining that no one is taking what is less than the new national minimum wage.

Similarly, he said the government has provided uniforms, weapons and other necessary items for smooth operationalization of the service.

The KVS boss commended the Governor for the political will at changing the narrative, emphasizing that security is every body’s business.

He urged Chairmen of Local Government Areas to support the organization as Chief security officers in their respective domains, saying that synergy with other security outfits is key to combating crime.

Retired Comptroller Adinoyi said his Mandate is to restructure and reposition the Vigilante service in order to meet the yearning and aspirations of its founding fathers.

The Vigilante boss expressed appreciation to the former Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo for their commitment to the course of securing lives and property of the people.

The Comptroller General also said “with the efficiency of the Vigilante service, Kogi State has ceased from being a hiding place for criminals”.

Retired Comptroller Adinoyi assured that with the commitment of the Governor, the office will work harder to ensure peace and tranquility across Kogi State.

The Comptroller General however appealed to the government to look into some key challenges confronting the KVS, including office accommodation, shortage of manpower, gadgets as well as its poor maintenance culture.
