The incident occurred at the Islamic High School in Bashorun, where chaos erupted during the festive celebration. Sources close to Hamzat revealed that he was deeply affected by the sight of the children collapsing, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment following the traumatic event.
The tragic stampede occurred during an event organized by Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, who was a key figure behind the ill-fated celebration. Agidigbo FM, which Hamzat owns, had been actively promoting the party in the days leading up to the tragedy. The Oyo State government confirmed the devastating loss, with police reporting that 35 children had perished, and six others sustained critical injuries.
Police have arrested Queen Naomi Silekunola and seven other individuals involved in organizing the event.
