Oriyomi Hamzat Hospitalized After Fatal Stampede at Ibadan Children’s Party

Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of Agidigbo FM, has been hospitalized after witnessing a tragic stampede at a children’s Christmas party in Ibadan that led to the deaths of at least 35 children. The incident occurred at the Islamic High School in Bashorun, where chaos erupted during the festive celebration. Sources close to Hamzat revealed that he was deeply affected by the sight of the children collapsing, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment following the traumatic event.

The tragic stampede occurred during an event organized by Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, who was a key figure behind the ill-fated celebration. Agidigbo FM, which Hamzat owns, had been actively promoting the party in the days leading up to the tragedy. The Oyo State government confirmed the devastating loss, with police reporting that 35 children had perished, and six others sustained critical injuries.

Police have arrested Queen Naomi Silekunola and seven other individuals involved in organizing the event. Authorities are investigating the causes of the stampede, while families and the public are grappling with the shock of the loss. Hamzat’s media house had been involved in the promotion of the event, and the tragedy has cast a shadow over the festive period in the region.

Hamzat, who was present at the event, reportedly became overwhelmed by the unfolding tragedy. According to reports, he was visibly distressed as the situation deteriorated, with many children collapsing during the stampede. His condition, described as a result of the emotional toll, prompted immediate medical attention, and he is currently receiving care.
