PLWDs in Kogi Praise Gov Ododo, Seeks Inclusion

The Kogi State Chapter of the National Association of Applicants and Workers with Disabilities, has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his exceptional leadership during his first year in office.

The Association stated this in Government House, Lokoja in a visit led by its president, Comrade Samuel Mark.

The group highlighted the Governor’s responsiveness to the needs of citizens, including those with special needs.

Comrade Mark appealed for the employment of 300 persons with disabilities into the state’s civil service, citing the disability law that mandates a minimum of 5% inclusion in recruitment processes.

He noted that this move would not only reduce unemployment among persons with disabilities, but also demonstrate the government’s commitment to inclusivity.

The group further requested the Governor to prioritize the staffing of the Kogi State Office for Disability Affairs with individuals from the disability community, emphasizing their capacity to manage the office effectively, if given the opportunity to do so.

In his response, the State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Sunday Faleke, assured them that Governor Ododo’s administration recognizes their contributions to society and is committed to ensuring their inclusion in all aspects of governance.

Faleke highlighted the importance of proper documentation, urging the group to submit the data of qualified individuals to the relevant agencies for prompt action when opportunities arise.

Faleke lauded the group’s commendation of the Governor, stating that it marked an early highlight of the one-year anniversary celebration of Ododo’s administration. He noted that the Governor values their support and prayers, describing him as a responsive leader and a servant of the people. He further assured them that their requests would be communicated to the Governor.

The group expressed gratitude to the state government for granting them an audience on short notice, acknowledging the administration’s efforts to address their concerns.
