Political leaders in Adavi Local Government Area have intensified efforts to mobilize residents for the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, described the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) as the most vital tool for citizens to elect credible leaders during elections.
He urged eligible voters across Adavi local government to visit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) centres to register, update their details, or collect their permanent voter card from INEC offices and designated centres.
“We are here to sensitize our people that they should go out and do this civic responsibility. The permanent voter’s card is the only instrument to exercise your rights during elections, and without it you cannot vote for your candidate of choice,” he said.
The Executive Chairman of Adavi Local Government, Hon. Bashir Okatengwu , advised residents to turn out in large numbers and cooperate with INEC officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise.
The Chairman noted that mass participation would deepen democratic governance and give the people a stronger voice in future elections.
