The Executive Chairman of Adavi Local Government Area, Hon. Bashiru Okatengwu held an 8-day Fidau prayer in memory of his late father, Alhaji Usman Abdulrasheed following his demise a week earlier.
The ceremony in Ogaminana attracted religious leaders, government officials, community leaders and dignitaries from across Kogi State.
The prayer session, which served as means of spiritual reflection and a tribute to the life and legacy of the late Alhaji Usman Abdulrasheed, provided opportunity for family, friends, and associates to honor his enduring impact on the community.
In his remarks, Hon. Bashiru expressed profound gratitude to all who attended, noting that their presence and prayers served as a great source of comfort to his family.
He described the occasion as a befitting way to celebrate a man who lived a life of faith, humility, and service.
Speakers at the prayer session eulogized Alhaji Usman Abdulrasheed as a principled and community-minded leader who dedicated his life to the service of his community —qualities reflected in the achievements of his children, particularly the Adavi Local Government Chairman.
They extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the continued repose of the soul late father of Adavi local government chairman.
The event also provided a platform for unity and reflection among community members and leaders, reaffirming shared values of integrity, leadership, and service to humanity.
Notable dignitaries in attendance include the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ozigi Deedat; the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Yusuf Ahovi; the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon.Taiye Agbanika; the Ohi of Adavi, Alhaji Muhammed Bello, the Ohitenyiete of Ebiraland, Alhaji Isa Ozi Salami, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Hon. Ismaila Isah.
Also present were the Chairman of Lokoja Local Government, Abdullahi Adams, other local government chairmen, political appointees, and respected community leaders who came together to pay their final respects to the deceased and sympathise with the family.
