President Tinubu Unveils New Ambassadorial Nominees: Ibas, Dambazau, Gambari

President Bola Tinubu has submitted 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.

Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio announced the President’s request on Thursday.

The list includes a total of 65 nominees, comprising 34 Career Ambassadors and High Commissioners, and 31 Non-Career Ambassadors and High Commissioners.

Among the 34 career ambassadorial nominees are notable figures such as Sulu-Gambari Olatunde Ahmed from Kwara State and Segun Ige from Edo State. The non-career ambassadorial list features prominent names including Senator Folasade Grace Bent from Adamawa State, Senator Solomon Ita Enang from Akwa-Ibom State, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim from Ondo State.

Additionally, President Tinubu nominated Chioma Ohakim, former First Lady of Imo State, and Abdulrahman Dambazau, former Minister of Interior and former Chief of Army Staff, as non-career ambassadors.

Their names were not included in the initial group of ambassadorial nominees previously released by the presidency.

The three ambassadorial nominees- Kayode Are (Ogun State), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Ayodele Oke (Oyo State) – who were sent to the Senate last week, have already been screened by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs. The newly forwarded list of 65 nominees is now with the same committee for screening, expected to be completed within one week.
