Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed the importance of unity in a multi-religious society, describing faith-based and cultural organizations as key partners in promoting peace, social cohesion, and moral values in the state.

The governor made this known at an empowerment programme in Okene, where buses and motorcycles were presented to selected faith-based and cultural organisations in Kogi Central Senatorial District

According to Governor Ododo, the initiative is part of his administration’s deliberate effort to strengthen institutional capacity, improve mobility, and support grassroots community engagement across the state.

Beneficiaries of the intervention include the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT), and the Council of Ulama, each of which received a coaster bus, while members the Ebira Heritage organisation was provided with motorcycles to enhance its outreach and promotion of peace in observance of cultural festivals.

Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-focused policies and programmes that foster harmony, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.

He noted that supporting organisations operating at the grassroots level remains a strategic approach to building enduring peace, mutual understanding, and shared prosperity among diverse communities in the state.

He further stated that the gesture reflects the humane and compassionate mantra of the administration to bring governance closer to the people in an administration anchored on accountability and prudent management of public resources.

The governor acknowledged the role of sound financial management in the successful execution of the programme, commending the Accountant-General of the State, Dr. Habibat Onumoko, and the Auditor-General for Local Government, Hon. Yakubu Adabenege, for ensuring transparency and creating an enabling financial environment for people-oriented initiatives especially at the grassroots level.
