Gov. Ododo Commends Igbo Community for Resilience, Economic Contributions in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has commended the Igbo Community in the state for its resilience, peaceful disposition, and significant contributions to the economic growth of the state and the nation at large.

The Governor gave the commendation when he received a delegation of the Igbo Community from Okun Land at the Government House in Lokoja, as part of activities marking his second anniversary in office.

He noted that the Igbo Community has remained law-abiding, supportive, and committed to peaceful coexistence, describing them as critical stakeholders in the state’s development.

Governor Ododo expressed appreciation to the community for celebrating with him and for the consistent support they have shown his administration.

He assured them of the continued commitment of the state government to providing adequate security to ensure that businesses and investments continue to thrive in a peaceful environment.

While sympathizing with members of the Igbo Community whose businesses were affected by the recent fire outbreak in Kabba, the Governor praised the traders for their maturity and restraint, noting that they did not resort to self-help or engage in criminal activities despite the losses suffered by their members.

He assured the victims that his administration would provide financial support to cushion the effects of the incident on them.

The Governor further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies, stressing that the fight against crime and criminality is a collective responsibility of all who live and do business in the state.

In his remarks, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, said the Igbo Community has consistently cooperated with his office and security agencies in the fight against crime in Kogi State.

He thanked Governor Ododo for creating and sustaining a secure environment where businesses can operate and grow peacefully.

The Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Barrister Zaccheaus Dare, said the visit was to celebrate with the Governor on his anniversary in office, appreciate his concern and sympathy during the Kabba fire incident, and reaffirm the Igbo Community’s support for the Ododo-led administration.

Also speaking, the President General of the Igbo Community in Kogi State, Mr. Sunday Nwachukwu, thanked Governor Ododo for his continuous support, describing his administration as Igbo-friendly.

He commended the Governor’s swift response to the Kabba fire incident, which affected several supermarkets and shops.

Similarly, the President General of the Igbo Community in Okun Land, Mr. Okafor Ndubuisi, expressed gratitude to the Governor for listening to their concerns and for personally visiting the community following the fire outbreak that affected some of their members.

He affirmed that the Igbo Community in Okun Land fully supports Governor Ododo and pledged support for his reelection in 2027.
