A fresh political mobilisation effort has taken off in Kogi State following the inauguration of a committee tasked with rallying support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The initiative, led by the State Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, signals an early push to consolidate grassroots backing within the Yagba Federal Constituency.

The inauguration ceremony, held in Isanlu, attracted a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including party loyalists, community leaders, youth organisations, and women groups. The gathering underscored the growing importance of local-level engagement as political actors begin to position themselves ahead of the next election cycle.

Addressing attendees, Idris emphasized that the committee’s primary responsibility would be to deepen awareness of ongoing government policies and achievements at both federal and state levels.

He highlighted economic reforms under the Tinubu administration and development strides recorded by the Ododo-led government, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security, as key messages to be taken to the electorate.

Members of the newly formed committee pledged to begin immediate consultations with critical stakeholders across the constituency, including traditional rulers and grassroots groups.

Supporters at the event described the move as a strategic step toward strengthening party unity and structure, expressing confidence that the initiative would play a decisive role in shaping electoral outcomes in 2027.
