The Super Eagles began training in London at the weekend ahead of their Unity Cup opening game against Zimbabwe tomorrow.

The team had their first training session at the Cray Valley FC pitch on Saturday with 14 players, including debuting goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, Tochukwu Nnadi, Phillip Otele and Femi Azeez, among others.

Also in camp are Owen Oseni and Terem Moffi, as well as the home-based Junior Ayobami, Al Ameen Tijani, Michael Atata, Adeoye Aderemi, Oputa Chibueze, Ighoke Obinna, Ocholi Elias and Oyedokun Tosin.

Francis Uzoho, Chibuike Nwaiwu and Rafiu Durosinmi arrived in the camp yesterday, while the rest of the invited players, except those playing in the English Premiership, were still being expected to hit the camp.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) disclosed that Captain Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Raphael Onyedika, Bruno Onyemaechi, Akor Adams and Yira Sor were also expected to arrive in the camp yesterday.

Players in the English Premier League were given permission to be with their clubs in the season ending games yesterday before hitting the camp today.

Okonkwo is expected to play his first game for the Super Eagles since pledging allegiance to Nigeria in this tournament hence the exclusion of the regular Stanley Nwabali and Maduka Okoye from the Unity Cup squad.

Defending champions, Nigeria, will meet Zimbabwe in one of the semifinals of the tournament tomorrow and confront the winner of the second semifinal between Jamaica and India in the final on May 30 at The Valley Stadium, home of Charlton Athletic.
