President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday officially swore in Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and was attended by family members, senior government officials, and presidential aides.
Their appointments follow the resignation of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and former Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions. Both Tegbe and Enikanolaiye were nominated by President Tinubu and confirmed by the Senate on May 6, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tegbe brings more than 35 years of experience in economic reforms, governance, and public sector advisory services. He holds a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University and master’s degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration.
Before his appointment, Tegbe served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led several reform and governance projects. He has also worked with major organisations including the Nigerian Communications Commission, Shell, Huawei, MTN, and General Electric.
Ambassador Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat from Kogi State, holds a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University and a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982 and rose through the ranks to become Permanent Secretary in 2016 before retiring from the civil service in 2017. During his career, he served in Nigerian diplomatic missions in Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India.
Prior to his appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. He has received several national honours in recognition of his distinguished service to Nigeria.
