The Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commenced a statewide advocacy tour to strengthen professional public relations practice, build strategic partnerships and expand membership across the state.
The Chapter Chairman, Hon. Ismaila Isah, said the initiative targets Ministries, Departments and Agencies, tertiary institutions, media organisations and corporate bodies as part of efforts to reposition the chapter after more than a decade of inactivity.
During visits to the Graphic Newspaper, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, and NIPR Elders, Isah called on journalists, public relations practitioners and spokespersons to regularise their membership with the Institute in line with the NIPR Act.
He also urged professionals to participate in the World Public Relations Forum scheduled to hold in Abuja in November this year.
The Chairman disclosed that the advocacy campaign would cover about 50 organisations across the state to promote ethical public relations practice, strengthen institutional collaboration and boost membership.
Speaking at separate meetings, the Managing Director of The Graphic Newspaper, Mr. Yusuf Itopa, and the NUJ Vice Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Obansa, commended the revival of the Kogi Chapter and pledged their organisations’ support for its programmes.
The advocacy team also met with NIPR Elders, where the chapter announced the constitution of an Elders Advisory Committee to support its revitalisation efforts.
Speaking on behalf of the elders, Elder Emmanuel Boro pledged the continued support of senior members, while other stakeholders called for sustained public enlightenment, regular capacity building and stronger collaboration to advance professional public relations practice in Kogi State.
