Traders at the Lokoja International Market have announced plans to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
The traders made this known exercise at the unveiling of campaign materials which were distributed to traders and members of various market groups at the International Market in Lokoja,
The convener and Chief Consultant of Kogi International Market, Comrade Adams Babangida, led the mobilisation, which attracted riders, barrow pushers and loaders, market women and men, among other groups.
He said the market comprises people from more than 21 ethnic groups, adding that the mobilisation was aimed at rallying support for all APC candidates from the presidential level to the State House of Assembly candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Babangida expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, former Governor Yahaya Bello and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for their contributions to the development of Kogi State.
He commended former Governor Bello for his youth development efforts and urged traders and other stakeholders to support his ambition to represent Kogi Central in the Senate come 2027.
Babangida also thanked Governor Ododo for giving him the opportunity to serve as Chief Consultant of Kogi International Market.
He also applauded the wife of the Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, for her support for women and children, particularly through empowerment programmes.
Babangida expressed confidence in the party’s candidates and pledged the continued support of the market community for the APC candidates.
The mobilisation exercise also featured the commissioning of a billboard displaying photographs of APC candidates for the 2027 elections.
