The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cautioned prospective students against accepting admission offers that have not been processed through its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
The board warned that admissions granted outside the approved system might not be recognised as valid, potentially exposing candidates to academic difficulties and complications with their admission records.
JAMB issued the warning in a statement shared on its official X account, advising candidates to confirm their admission status on CAPS before accepting offers or commencing registration.
According to the board, candidates should ensure that their admission offers are officially recognised through the system before making a decision to accept them.
It further explained that accepting admissions outside the approved process could lead to challenges regarding their validity and other academic procedures.
To provide further clarification, JAMB directed candidates to an episode of its JAMB Explained programme, which discusses irregular admissions, their possible consequences and the measures candidates can take to protect themselves.
The board emphasised that prospective students should not depend solely on admission offers communicated by their institutions but should independently verify their admission status through CAPS.
The advisory comes as candidates continue to navigate the tertiary institution admission process, with JAMB reiterating the importance of confirming admission offers through its approved platform.
The board urged candidates to verify their admission status before accepting any offer to ensure that their admission process follows the required procedure.
