The Kogi State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has held a public bid opening for the procurement of digital literacy equipment and related facilities to improve access to digital learning in schools across the state.
The exercise, held on Thursday, at the Kogi State AGILE Project Office in Lokoja, covered the procurement of 1,250 all-in-one desktop computers, 50 projectors, 50 motorised projector screens, 50 annual internet subscription services, 30 solar power units of 8KVA and 10 internet facilities for digital literacy in schools under Phases I and II.
In his opening remarks, the State Project Coordinator, Ahmed Tijani Oricha, said the procurement is part of efforts to align the project’s implementation with the commitment of the Kogi State Government to provide adolescent girls with quality learning opportunities and relevant educational resources.
He stressed that the procurement is intended to support the project’s objectives and ensure that beneficiaries have access to the resources needed to improve their learning outcomes.
The coordinator said the project has no vested interest in the outcome of the bidding exercise, adding that its priority is to select competent suppliers capable of delivering quality equipment in line with the specified requirements.
He noted that the procurement exercise was divided into three lots and assured bidders that the process will be conducted in accordance with relevant procurement guidelines.
Oricha advised bidders ahead of the outcome of the exercise to ensure that successful contractors deliver quality equipment in line with approved specifications, while urging unsuccessful bidders not to be discouraged, as the outcome will not preclude them from participating in future procurement opportunities.
Also speaking, the AGILE Component Lead for Digital Literacy, Dr Tenuche Sheidu, said the equipment will assist students with relevant digital skills needed to thrive in the current technological era.
He explained that digital skills acquisition will be incorporated into the school curriculum to ensure students develop the competencies needed to participate effectively in an increasingly digital society.
Sheidu stressed that the selection of successful bidders will be based on compliance with the specifications outlined in the procurement advertisement, rather than the prices quoted by bidders.
He urged participants to trust the selection process, assuring them that the procedures adopted during previous bid openings will be maintained in the current exercise.
